Review: Unbound 9

Title: Crown: A LitRPG Adventure (Unbound Book 9)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CJQNP43Y/

Author: Nicoli Gonnella

Rating: 4.5/5

Comments:  Nine books in, and I'm still reading, that alone is remarkable.  This story is into at least it's third arc, and honestly it's tough to keep things together that long.  It suffers from the "Who is this?" issue with the minor characters when you pick up a new book, and also because of its length you have semi-regular digressions to a non-protagonist point of view.

Now with those quibble clearly stated, the main arc remains very strong.  I am invested in seeing how the storyline with the Pathless' Chose plays out.  To say that storyline had some significant developments would be a gross understatement, and he left it hanging at the end.  Book 10 can't get here fast enough.

Review: Unbound book 8

Title: Vault: A LitRPG Adventure (Unbound Book 8)

Author: Nicoli Gonnella

Rating:4.3

Comments: Somehow, 8 books in, this series has continued to find new ways to make things fresh.  There's a lot of big events in this book and I honestly can't wait to see how some of them work out.  I hope he doesn't drag the big ones out too long.

Review: Unbound 7

Title: Abyss: A LitRPG Adventure (Unbound Book 7)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BV4G3XJW/

Author: Nicoli Gonnella

Rating: 4/5

Comments:  Ok, this is book 7, so by this point if you've read this far, you must like it.  Unusually for a series this long, he is still introducing new characters and wrinkles in the story.  Felix's companions are still present and accounted for, but they are also growing in power.  We even learn more about Beef.

Quality-wise things are on par with the previous books, so it's moderately impressive that he has been able keep it up this long.

Book 8 comes out the end of September.

Review: Unbound book 6

Title: Expanse:  A LitRPG Adventure (Unbound Book 6)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BN6S7Q5P/

Author: Nicoli Gonnella

Rating: 4.5/5

Comments: There's a lot going on in this story, and unlike book 5 there isn't any annoyingly boring side plot.  There's still a lot of Sword of Damocles points which can be a little tiresome.  I want to feel like my protagonist has a choice, and constantly stating that they're only still alive because the big powers can't be bothered to crush them detracts from my enjoyment.

Despite that, I will be reading book 7.

Review: Unbound book 5

Title: Threshold: A LitRPG Adventure (Unbound Book 5)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BG15B4ZZ/

Author: Nicoli Gonnella

Rating:  4/5

Comments:  One of the hazards of reading a lot and blogging a little is you forget the details of the oldest book in the queue.  Fortunately I have my Discord where I make comments as I read stuff.  Unbound was generally up to the quality of the previous books in the series, and it unveiled a lot of stuff, but it had a side plot that didn't do much other than slow things down for little benefit.  It also left a lot of things hanging at the end of the book.  Not epically loose like the infamous Brambles and Thorns, but more of a Han is frozen in carbonite and we don't know what happens to him way.

Review: Fury

Title: Fury: A LitRPG Adventure (Unbound Book 4)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B85GDR22/

Author: Nicoli Gonnella

Rating: 4.6/5

Comments: This is a continuation of the Unbound series previously reviewed.  The action in this one is pretty solid and the narrative flow is good.  I think it is overall an improvement if only because the story is more developed than the previous books.

Review: Unbound Series

Title: Unbound books 1-3

Rating: 4/5

Comments:  This starts as a semi-standard Isekai, and promptly goes right off the rails.  Over the three books there are parts that drag a bit, and other parts that go on too long, but taken as a whole, the series is really good.  I would rank the books as 4/5, 4/5, and 4.5/5.  By the end of book 3 it feels like our hero is finally facing things on an even footing and isn't just constantly being nut-shot by things.
